Culturally responsive training

Give yourself the opportunity to learn from other WEA educators who are already using best practices for teaching equity in their classrooms. Join WEA members and future teachers at our upcoming conference at Highline College in Des Moines. The WEA Human and Civil Rights committee invites you to our Teaching Equity Conference, Saturday, April 28. Read about courses offered.

Keynote Speaker Georgina Cecilia Pérez, author of Unity Framework: Critical Pedagogy Curriculum, and a member of the Texas State Board of Education, will certainly provoke interesting reflection and discussion. The day’s events will also feature a high school student panel. Register today.

The Conference fee ($40 now, $50 at the door and $150 for non-WEA members) includes five clock hours, breakfast, lunch and materials. College and high school students may attend with no charge. For those traveling from outside of the Seattle area, lodging fees are not covered, but Four Points Hotel is offering a conference special rate, $109. Questions? Contact Yvonne O'Neill253-765-7073.
