esp sparks (2)The analogy of being in a boat on rough waters comes up repeatedly as we continue to navigate the day-to-day news of COVID-19. By now, we can all recite the COVID-19 mantras: Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds; Stay home; Don’t hoard; Flatten the curve.  But as the hours at home turn to days turn to weeks turn to months (possible and probable), this may be a good time to take stock of what we’re doing to stay steady as we build our new routine.

Yoga Dog (2)As any pet dog will remind you, it’s important to have a set routine. Are you taking time to exercise every day? We keep talking about connecting through our electronic devices, but are you getting enough alone time so you can recharge? Do you have your own space? Are you trying to control things beyond your control instead of getting a handle on what you can do to stay sane and healthy? There are many ways to get tips and reminders on keeping an even keel – check our COVID-19 resource page to get ideas.

Remember, you are one of thousands of teachers, education support professionals, therapists, psychologists, nurses, counselors, custodians, nutrition service workers, retired members, students –  and the list goes on – who are working to figure out how to proceed over the next weeks and months. We’re all in this together and together we will emerge.
