WEA-PAC Convention #2

Together in WEA-PAC, we have a strong voice to support candidates who stand by our public education system and our students. Today, WEA-PAC leaders from across the state came together to exercise that power as we voted to endorse the candidates that members agreed would be best for our students and for our communities.  WEA members can read more about our endorsements in their email or on the recommended candidates page.

Attendees submitted questions for the candidates that helped us hear more about how candidates intend to support our students and us. After careful consideration and a vote of WEA-PAC leaders from across the state we determined that these are the candidates who we can count on to support public education, our students and our communities.

"The candidate convention is where we get to have our voices heard, meet the candidates directly, and select the best ones for our state, councils, and locals," said Devon Del Rosario, a teacher and member of Mead Education Association. "As a member of the Eastern Council, I appreciate having our voices heard from the east side of the state."

WEA-PAC makes endorsements in these races because each position impacts our jobs and our lives. Attorney General represents state agencies including the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction. The Commissioner of Public Lands manages 3 million acres of public trust lands that bring in critical revenue to fund our schools. And the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, that’s pretty self-explanatory.

WEA-PAC will now share the news with 90,000 member educators across the state, getting out the vote to ensure lawmakers in all corners of government continue to support a high-quality public education that gives every child the freedom to learn and succeed.
